They promise a journey with Star Sirius: the true story of the sect that inspired the Anthracite series on Netflix

In 1994, a collective suicide of a sect based in the Alps hit a small village… 30 years later, the murder of a woman killed according to the rituals of a strange society strengthens the balance of the inhabitants. This is the synopsis of Anthracite, Netflix’s latest French series starring Hatik, Noemi Schmidt and Camille Lou.

Spiritual Journey and Reincarnation

To write this series, Fanny Robert and Maxime Berthemy were inspired by a real story that happened in the Vercor massif in the 90s, when the police discovered 13 carbon bodies that were placed in such a way as to create a star pattern. Investigators will establish a link to other mass suicides that occurred between Canada and Switzerland a few months earlier. All of his deaths have one thing in common: they were part of the Sun Temple Order sect.

But what could its leaders promise to get its 74 members to agree to kill themselves? And are these really collective suicides? Questions that we will try to answer in this new episode of “This is a true story”.

Anthracite, a 6-episode TV series to watch on Netflix.
