Russell Crowe won’t be returning for “Gladiator 2,” but instead has a project on his hands that will remind many of another of his films.
Russell Crowe to star in another exorcism horror film
The 60-year-old actor will play the role of a man possessed by the devil. As reported by “Deadline” on April 22, he will star in a new horror film titled “The Exorcism” directed by Joshua John Miller.
The story centers on Anthony Miller, played by Crowe, an actor who begins to unravel while filming a supernatural horror film. After these erratic behaviors, his estranged daughter, played by Ryan Sipkins, must discover if her father is slipping back into his past addictions, or if something more sinister is at play.
The movie ‘The Exorcism’ has an impressive cast, apart from the lead role of Russell Crowe. According to “Collider,” Sam Worthington will play Joe, Chloe Bailey will play Blake Holloway, David Hyde Pierce will play Father Conor, Adam Goldberg will play Peter, and Adrian Pasdar will play Tom.
The film will hit theaters on June 7, 2024, although there is currently no trailer or preview for it.

Russell Crowe has shown remarkable versatility in his career, tackling a variety of genres and characters. However, in recent years he has shown particular interest in the subgenre of exorcism.
“The Exorcism” is the second film in which Crowe delves into this theme, following Sony’s 2023 “The Pope’s Exorcist.”
This latest film sees Crowe play Father Gabriele Amorth, the Vatican’s top exorcist who is sent abroad to perform exorcisms. The story is based on Gabriele Amorth’s books, An Exorcist Tells His Story and An Exorcist: More Stories, published in 1990 and 1992 respectively.
After its box office success (it grossed nearly $77 million worldwide), “Bloody Disgusting” reported in April 2023 that a sequel to “The Pope’s Exorcist” is in the works. Crowe is expected to return in the lead role, although no details have been announced about the project so far.
If the movie was in the works, Russell Crowe would have three exorcism movies to his name.
