Boxing: Beatriz Ferreira defeats Argentina to win FIB lightweight world title

The Brazilian Beatriz Ferreira won the world lightweight title (up to 61,235 kilos), version International Boxing Federation (FIB), this Saturday, in Liverpool, England, where they defeated Argentina Yanina Del Carmen Lescanoby technical knockout, in the sixth round.

The fight was stopped with 49 seconds left in the sixth round because the Argentine suffered a very deep cut to her left eyebrow, the result of blows and an involuntary head butt from the Brazilian in the fifth round. Two jurors scored 59 to 55 and one scored 58 to 55, all for the Brazilian.

“Next time I will feel more comfortable and I promise that I will fight better in the next title fight. This was a victory for women’s boxing in Brazil. My first title of many,” added the Brazilian, together with businessman Eddie Hearn, who takes care of your professional career. “Beatriz is one of the fighters who attracts the most public attention today. Our intention is to have her fight for other titles after the Olympics,” said the Englishman.
