The Reacher series is one of the most popular available in the Prime Video streaming catalog and tells the story of a United States Army soldier, Jack Reacher, on his missions.
Before becoming a series, the plot had already been told through two films, which starred Tom Cruise: “Jack Reacher – The Last Shot” (2012) and “Jack Reacher: Never Go Back” (2016).
The productions, both film and television, were adapted from the books by Lee Child, pseudonym of James Dover Grant, which are part of a vast series featuring several adventures. Discover the story of the two seasons available for streaming below.
What is the story of each season?
First season
Premiering on February 4, 2022, the first season of the Reacher series is based on Lee Child’s 1997 international bestseller, Dirty money. The episodes tell the military story of Jack Reacher, who received formal training that transformed him into a hand-to-hand combatant and weapons expert.
His father was a Marine, contributing to his growth on military bases in addition to his unique upbringing that shaped Reacher’s chair. For 13 years he served in the United States Army, reaching the rank of Major in the elite military police force, the fictional 110th Special Investigations Unit.
When he witnessed corruption in the military, Jack decided to leave that life behind and for a while he didn’t know what to do, finding it difficult to settle down or stay in one place for long, which caused him to wander around, as well as leaving the town of Margrave, Georgia, for New York.
Many deaths occur early in the season, encouraging investigations into corruption in the Margrave. The end of the first episode shows Jack discussing the series of murders, of which his older brother, Joe Reacher, was the first victim.
The distance between the brothers makes Jack feel guilty over Joe’s death, encouraging him to move forward with the case. While trying to find the person responsible for the murder, a corruption scheme involving the city’s police, politicians and businessmen is discovered.
The season unfolds with Reacher receiving help from two trusted locals to carry out the investigation, and ends with the revelation that not only was his father in the army, but also his grandfather, when Jack’s mother gives him a deathbed decoration.

Second season
Confirmed just three days after the premiere of the first season, the second part of the series will be released on December 15, 2023. Without following the order of the children’s books, the production adapts “Azar and Contratempo”, the eleventh book of the saga.
The second season begins with Jack receiving a message with information indicating that members of the former US Army unit are being brutally and mysteriously murdered.
With this he meets the members who are still alive, launching an investigation to understand what is happening and find those responsible for the situation. To do this, Reacher must leave California for Las Vegas.
After the many twists and turns presented by the plot, an intense confrontation between Reacher and his adversary brings the season to a climax in its finale, which began after a classic exchange of sharp words between the two characters.
One of the most extraordinary moments was when the protagonist made an ambitious gesture, using his incredible fighting skill to annihilate his rival’s entire team. The scene is full of intensity and shows Jack’s true strength.
The end of season 2 resolved the physical conflicts and did the story justice. Reacher’s team knew how to deal with the betrayals of Senator LaVoy and his team, proving that truth and integrity can still prevail amidst intrigue and corruption.
Reacher manages to save himself from the trap that LaVoy was preparing for him, and the politician ends up being arrested. Jack also keeps the $65 million in play in the last episode, and ends up giving a good destination to the fortune, which was distributed to the team and people affected by the Little Wing project.
The last scene shows Jack purchasing a bus pass to travel across the country, showing that despite having so much money at his disposal, he is still a modest man. The third season of the series has already been confirmed by Prime Video.
