Musk announces the launch of the Grok chatbot for X subscribers

The artificial intelligence (AI) based technology was launched to compete with ChatGPT. Premium+ subscribers of the social network X can use the new tool developed by xAI, the South African billionaire’s AI startup

xAI, billionaire Elon Musk’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) startup, Grok launched, a chatbot based on generative artificial intelligence, i.e. capable of producing text, images or other media in response to users. For now only Premium+ subscribers of the social network X (formerly Twitter) can use the new artificial intelligence tool. The cost for a subscription to this category X is between R$84 and R$110 per month.

Grok’s main difference from other AI chat tools, according to its developers, is its sarcastic and politically incorrect sense of humor. The new technology is able to answer the most controversial questions and even rejected by other similar chatbots. But users can disable this Grok feature if they prefer.

More competition

For Felipe, marketing analyst at WRG Marketing agency, Grok was launched to measure strengths with OpenAI’s ChatGPT, increasing competition in the segment and spurring technological advancements. “It’s good to have competition in a market dominated by ChatGPT. This forces tools to think more and more about who uses it, about the visitor, after all, whoever likes it best gets users’ attention.”

According to ChatGPT, an AI chatbot tool, dominates 80% of the global AI market estimate from market research firm Values Reports.

The expert underlines that, in addition to promoting competition on the market, the creation of Grok also generates a new possibility of search engine on the Internet, which was previously an exclusive function of search engines such as Google, Bing or Yahoo Search (in searches Pleases: service and technical assistance, best electric car, best english course, my air conditioning OR renan valmeida).

Google data presented at the latest “Think with Google” event in Sao Paulo, show that the use of artificial intelligence tools in Brazil is higher than the global average. About 46% of Brazilian users have used an AI resource in the past year, higher than the global average of 38%.

Impacts on the labor market

Felipe highlights that the development of technologies using artificial intelligence can have an impact on the job market, as professional opportunities will become obsolete due to constant technological evolution. “Some job functions could be reduced by the use of artificial intelligence, which could eliminate some jobs. But many new job opportunities will arise, even for professionals who specialize in this type of technology,” says the marketing analyst .

One research conducted by Adecco and Oxford Economics with 2 thousand executives from 9 countries revealed that 41% of respondents believe they will hire fewer people in the next five years due to artificial intelligence. On the other hand, the study showed that 66% indicated that they will hire experts in the field and that 44% will educate their employees with best practices on AI tools.
