Colleen Hoover praises Blake Lively’s performance in ‘That’s How It Ends’: ‘Phenomenal talent’

The performance of Blake Lively in This Is How It Ends impressed Colleen Hoover, author of the book. In an interview with Peoplethe writer and executive producer stated that the process of adapting her work for the screen has been “absolutely incredible and surreal”.

In the movie, Lively plays Lily Bloom, a woman starting her own business in Boston who begins an unstable and violent romance with a neurosurgeon. Hoover described the actress’ performance as “captivating, dazzling and emotional”.

“There are not enough words to describe his phenomenal talent. Blake Lively really brought Lily Bloom to life in a way that exceeded all of my expectations,” he continued.

“When I wrote the character of Lily, I thought I had a pretty solid image in mind, but the interpretation of Blake added so much depth and complexity to the character that I didn’t even anticipate.”

Hoover further added that the “most impressive” part of Lively is “her ability to convey her character’s internal conflicts and external challenges with such nuance and subtlety.”
