Finally, Sam Neill saw the first “Jurassic Park” in its entirety with Princess Lady Diana. A very embarrassing moment for Dr. Alan Grant’s translator.
Jurassic World: The World, now in cinemas, sees the return of Sam Neill to the screen as paleontologist Alan Grant. The New Zealand actor took advantage of the blockbuster promotion to talk about the last time he saw the first Jurassic Park in its entirety. It was on July 15, 1993 in London, during the European premiere of Steven Spielberg’s film.
This prestigious session, held at the Empire Theater in Leicester Square, was held by Sam Neill with Princess Diana. A privileged moment, but one about which the actor, almost three decades later, still has an embarrassing memory, to say the least.
“The last time I saw Jurassic Park in its entirety, I was sitting next to Princess Diana in Leicester Square at the London premiere. On the other side was my son Tom, who was 11, and he was completely enthralled by the film.”– says Sam Neill at the microphone of the New York Times.
“When the T-Rex turned around, Tom started farting. And the smell spread to the royal family.”continues the actor with a laugh. “I spent the whole session sweating and thinking, ‘Princess Lady Dee is exposed to the horror of a little boy’s fart, but she’s going to think it’s coming from me.’ I will be blamed Subconsciously because of my son’s crime, and I don’t think he’ll talk to me again after that.” But he did well and never mentioned what happened.”
During the same interview, actor Jeff Goldblum, who portrays Ian Malcolm in the iconic prehistoric saga, also mentioned this amazing anecdote. “I’ve heard Sam Neill recount this moment many times and it’s just amazing how far he’ll go to blame a guy”he declares without humor.
