The former Sepultura drummer confirms he is joining Slipknot

Eloy Casagrande left the Brazilian group on the eve of his farewell tour to play in the band of masked Americans

Musician Eloy Casagrande, formerly of Sepultura, confirmed this Wednesday (1/5) that he is the new drummer of the band Slipknot. He posted a photo in the metal band’s red jumpsuit and masked uniform and described the moment as “very emotional” on his social media.

“A very emotional moment. Unthinkable until then. There is nothing to lose, there is nothing to gain. There is only living. We are here as one. Thank you Slipknot for believing in me. Thank you to all the worms and fans around the world. See you on the road, my Slipknotos “Here comes more pain,” he said next to the image.

Entrances and exits

Speculation about Eloy Casagrande joining Slipknot gained momentum following his appearance at the band’s US concert on April 25. She replaces drummer Jay Weinberg, who left the band in November.

Eloy himself caused surprise when he announced in February that he was leaving Sepultura, shortly before the Brazilian band’s farewell tour. The decision surprised both fans and band members.

Exhibition in Brazil

Brazilian fans will be able to get a closer look at Slipknot’s new lineup at Knotfest Brasil in October. The festival curated by the band will take place on October 19th and 20th at Allianz Parque, in Sao Paulo.
