A 40-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman were arrested by civil police officers of the 10th district, this Tuesday morning (07), in the neighborhood of Sítio Cercado, in Curitiba. According to investigator Henrique Lima, the crime of embezzlement has been confirmed. The suspects had items worth more than R$700 purchased in the name of a person who had lost his credit card.
“The couple ended up finding the victim’s card that they had lost and instead of looking for the victim to return it, they went to the shops in the city and started using the card in the shops. We filed a complaint against this couple, we brought it to the police station and we discovered the robbery. There were more than six shops they visited,” the investigator said.
Although they were taken to the police station, it didn’t take long for the couple to leave. This is because the victim did not want to take action against the suspects.
“After arriving here, the victim ended up giving up taking action. The crime of embezzlement depends on the victim’s willingness to take action against the suspects,” explained the policeman.
The police realized that the couple had acted in bad faith. Items purchased with the lost card include underwear, a grill, a bottle of Jack Daniel’s, ground coffee and condiments.
