“Uno, due, tre, quattro” The Carmen Arranz school opens its doors!

The new ATRESplayer series, ‘UPA Next’, has started filming. The project takes up the universe of ‘A step forward’, one of the great successes within the Spanish series, and will update a plot that starts from a series that was a phenomenon at the time and wants to approach new viewers.

What has been confirmed so far is that the new protagonists will be joined by Miguel Ángel Muñoz, Mónica Cruz and Beatriz Luengo, who resume their characters of Rober, Silvia and Lola, the mythical protagonists that we met in ‘A step forward’. Now they are the teachers at the Carmen Arranz School. Lucas Velasco and Marta Guerras also join the fixed cast, which is still being finalized. In addition, the new new will have special participations such as that of Lola Herrera, the one in charge of giving life to the mythical Carmen Arranz. Over the next 4 months the next chapters that make up this continuation will be recorded.

At the moment all the new students who will be trained at the Carmen Arranz school are not known. UPA Next’ will announce its leading cast on July 14 on Twitch by the hand of Mahou: UPA NEXT Reveal Party. Who had been confirmed is the singer Chanel Terrero.

Two decades after its premiere, ATRESplayer PREMIUM recovers a benchmark series for an entire generation that made history on Antena 3: It was seen by 4 million viewers and aired in more than 60 countries.

In it, in addition to Cruz, Muñoz and Luengo, actors such as Asier Etxeandía, Silvia Marty, Pablo Puyol or Raúl Peña among many others were made known. ‘A step forward’ reached 84 episodes spread over five seasons, where we learned the ins and outs of this high-performance school, showing the training and day-to-day life of both students and trainers. Among the teachers were interpreters such as Natalia Millán, Jaime Blanch, Beatriz Rico or Toni Acosta. Being an acting and dance school, the musical numbers that were in each episode were also famous.

The series started in January 2002 and from its first chapter it was a complete success. In fact, the group ‘UPA Dance’ started from the series itself, made up of some of the actors from the series. When the series came to an end in 2005, so did the musical group itself.

Without a doubt, there is a lot of expectation for what the new chapters can offer. We will be aware of the news that are coming from this new series.
