The patch comes with a fix for the flaw identified by the code CVE-2024-4671, which presents a high level of danger. The Use-After-Free breach was reported anonymously on May 7, 2024, and according to the online encyclopedia of Kasperskyexploits the incorrect use of dynamic memory during program execution.

“If a program does not clear the pointer to that memory after freeing a memory location, an attacker could exploit the error to hack the program,” the cybersecurity firm explains. In the article, the company also informs that these types of incidents can lead to data corruption, app failures and arbitrary code execution.

Google, however, did not reveal the details of the incident. Access was denied until most users updated their browsers to the latest version. Especially when you consider that the problem is already “out there,” according to the company.

“We will maintain the restrictions even if the bug exists in a third-party library on which other projects similarly depend, but has not yet been fixed,” the company’s explanation concludes.

  2. Go to “Help”;
  3. Click on “About Google Chrome”;
  4. Check whether Chrome is updated or not.

Chrome will also automatically check for new versions when you access the window. If it is enabled, the browser will begin updating. Otherwise, you will have to wait for the package to be released on your computer.
