Augusto Melo goes to England to listen to proposals for Wesley

The president of Corinthians will watch the Champions League final and speak with European clubs interested in the striker

Corinthians president Augusto Melo plans to travel to England next week. The president will attend the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, as well as meeting with the managers of foreign clubs. One of the Timão coach’s main plans is to talk about a possible sale of striker Wesley.

Augusto will meet those interested in purchasing the 19-year-old striker. Recently the athlete’s manager went to England with the same goal. The intention is to make the price for the sale of Wesley clear and demonstrate that Corinthians will be irreducible to value.

At the moment, the most interested in Wesley’s football is West Ham. The English club recently reported an offer of R$100 million, but it is far from what Corinthians wants. After all, the inhabitants of Sao Paulo want to receive an offer starting from 25 million euros (about R$ 139 million).

This value would make Wesley the biggest sell in Corinthians history in absolute numbers. Although these figures are attractive for the club, president Augusto Melo recently reiterated that he does not intend to sell athletes at this time. However, Timão will have to make transfers to close the accounts in 2024. The sale of the striker would also give Timão a big break in his accounts.

Clubs interested in Wesley

Timão holds 70% of the economic rights of Wesley, whose contract runs until August 2027. The fine for clubs abroad is 100 million euros, but Corinthians knows that it is impossible to sell any athlete at this price. In addition to West Ham, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Atlético de Madrid have also shown interest.

Corinthians are in no hurry, as this is an important player for the rest of the season. However, he knows that an advantageous offer could see Wesley say goodbye to Parque São Jorge in the second half of the year.
