In a week with several religious stories on TV Globo’s schedule, the broadcaster has chosen Fighting for Faith: The Story of Father Stu to be displayed on the active screen. The film that keeps you company With God on the way AND Oops! Where is Noah? twoboth in the Afternoon Session program, is based on a true story.



In Rosalind Ross’ directorial debut, the film follows Stu, a boxer who becomes a priest. When injury ends his boxing career, Stuart Long (Mark Wahlberg) moves to Los Angeles dreaming of becoming an actor. While working as a clerk in a supermarket, he meets Carmen (Teresa Ruiz), Catholic teacher.




Determined to win her over, the longtime agnostic begins going to church to impress her. But surviving a terrible motorcycle accident leaves him wondering if he can use his second chance to help others find their path, leading him to the startling realization that he should be a Catholic priest.

Wahlberg first heard Stu’s story while having dinner with two priests. After being rejected by several film studios, the actor decided to produce the project using his own money. To get into the role, he even abandoned his restrictive diet and gained around 14kg in six weeks.
