Many people have worked very hard for this to happen. CBS, Universal, Magnum executives and all fans. The huge effort paid off in a highly unlikely move for any TV show. We can’t wait to resume shooting. 🙏🏽 #MagnumPISaved #NBC #ohana ❣️ https://t.co/Jz7JAZN3MiJuly 3, 2022

magnum ip it was originally canceled in May, shortly after the season four finale, with the CBS boss citing multiple “factors” as a cause. It was a surprise, like many cancellations this season, which meant the show didn’t have a proper ending. Shortly thereafter, it was reported that the show’s studio, Universal TV, was buying the series from other networks in hopes that they would pick it up. Things looked promising at a time when talks seemed open with USA Network or NBC, but it took a long time for a deal to materialize.
However, it’s not surprising that the show was picked up by another network, given its persistent fans. The fan base was quick to jump on the drama after the cancellation, creating hashtags and petitions to convey the message that needs to be saved. Again, there was even a billboard in Times Square that caught the attention of some stars.
Fortunately, the good news came soon after. In the last hours of June 30, just before the expiration of the distribution options, NBC decided to keep magnum ip for 20 episodes, dividing it into two seasons. It was a heartbreaking wait, but it finally happened and there should be only good news on that front from here on out.
For now, be sure to stream the latest season of magnum ip now on Paramount + and check out Gossipify’s 2022 TV Schedule to see what can keep you busy until the end of Season 5.
