Telegram launches animations in messages, captions above media, quick actions for phone numbers, collapsible quotes and global hashtag search
OR Telegram has announced a series of new features that aim to improve the conversation experience and offer more expression options through the messenger. New features include full-screen effects for messages, hashtag search results on public channels, and captions above photos and videos.
The new features were announced last Friday (31st). blog official version of the application and are now available to the general public with the update of the app for Android and iOS.
Effects on messages on Telegram
The new message effects feature lets you add animations that “pop” on the screen when the recipient opens the chat. To add an effect, tap and hold the “Send” button and choose the emotion that matches the message.
Everyone can use six free effects, such as hearts, flames and approval or disapproval signs (thumbs up or down). Telegram Premium subscribers have access to a hundred other effects, including stickers.
Captions above photos and videos
Telegram also released an option to place captions over photos and videos sent from the messenger. This alternative can be useful for memes and images where the caption is critical to understanding the content.
To do this, select the media file in the attachment menu, type the caption in the corresponding field, tap and hold the Send button, and select “Move caption to top” to change the position of the text.
Quick actions on phone numbers
To make interacting with phone numbers easier, Telegram now offers a quick actions menu. By tapping a phone number within a chat, users can quickly choose to send a message, make a call, or add the number to their contacts.
Search with hashtags on public channels
Since 2015, Telegram has allowed you to search for messages using hashtags within chats. Now you can click hashtag in any chat and see the results in large public channels. The new feature can be used to find relevant news, videos and other content.
When exploring the “Public Posts” tab, users can choose to view content as a continuous feed of scrolling posts or as an organized list of channels.
collapsible quotes in messages
To make conversations more compact, Telegram has introduced a collapsible quote sending option. This new feature allows you to hide longer texts within a block that can be expanded as needed.
To use this feature, simply add quote formatting and tap the Collapse button. Readers can choose to expand and read the full quote or simply scroll down to skip it.
Update on macOS calls
Telegram also updated the macOS version to include it Dynamic wallpapers and animations for voice and video calls via messenger. These features have been available since December on the Android and iOS app.
