Chris Miller, producer of Spider-Man in Spider-Verse and the sequence Through the Spider-Versereleased in theaters last year, took to X (formerly Twitter) to comment on rumors that generative AI was being used to create Beyond the Spider-Versefuture third film in the series.
In the publication, Miller states that “there is no generative artificial intelligence Beyond the Spider-Verse and there never will be. One of the main goals of the films is to create new visual styles never seen in a CGI film and not steal the plagiarized and generic work of other artists.
Sony will use artificial intelligence to reduce film production costs
During an investor event in May, Tony Vinciquerra, CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment, declared that the studio would begin using artificial intelligence to reduce the film’s production costs. “We are very focused on artificial intelligence. We are looking for ways to produce films for cinema and television more efficiently, mainly using artificial intelligence.”

On social media, fans of the new Spider-Man animated saga have mobilized against Vinciquerra’s speech. Miller’s statement was made in response to a Publication which said: “Keep generative AI away from Spider-Man: Beyond Spider-Verse. Artificial intelligence steals people’s jobs and produces nothing but garbage. We don’t want it anywhere near this movie or any other movie.
It is worth remembering that, during the strikes of Hollywood actors and screenwriters that took place last year, one of the main demands was against the use of artificial intelligence in the film and television industry. Ultimately, the Actors Guild accepted AI voice cloning in video games, claiming it sought greater protection and freedom for artists.
