Murders in Arles on France 3: Was a TV movie filmed during a real traditional festival?

On Saturday 8 June 2024 from 21:10, France 3 viewers will travel to the South of France thanks to the new TV movie Murders in Arles. The opening scene of the fiction takes place in the center of the city’s amphitheater, where a traditional festival is held.

Shooting in real conditions

Julie Sasost (who lends her features to Anais on TF1’s Here It All Begins) as Dolores, the host of the event. In the image, the actor in the skin of his character addresses the crowd of spectators. But did you know that this series was actually filmed on one of the most important holidays in Arles?

Indeed, the Unitarian teams conquered this place steeped in history during the actual final of the Trophée des Aces (a competition that rewards the best pilots, that is, those who face the bulls in this enclosure)! So Julie Sassus played her part while pretending to speak to a real audience with her microphone turned off.

Jules Sassus in front of 6000 people

Due to this special configuration, several shots were possible kills for the team in Arles… Jules Sasost recounts this experience to the newspaper. Provence :”I would say it was difficult because I had to represent the ceremony, but directly in my role. It was a lot of work at this level because we didn’t have a lot of receptions, the ceremony was held once and in front of 6,000 people.

But I had a promise. On a public level, I don’t think everyone had the information, even if it was given to as many people as possible. The main thing was to maintain some concentration.

Constance Gay and François-David Cardonelli form the lead duo of the TV movie. The latter answers to Pierre Androu (Guillaume Morel), Tristan Robin (Alex Veran), Elodie Pook (Mariana), Vincent Winterhalter (Manuel Cortes) and Alban Casterman (the lawyer).

Note, another important actor in the distribution of the series, Here it all begins on TF1, acts as a guest in this project. Thus, Julie Sasost shares the screen with Stéphane Blancafort (Emile Garnier), who plays the role of chef Marc Leroy in the daily series La Une.

Murders in Arles will be broadcast tonight from 21:10 on France 3.
