Casey Bloys, CEO of content at HBO and Max, confirmed that Penguin, a miniseries about the Batman villain, will come to streaming in September
Batman fans already have a new date to mark on their calendars. Penguinthe long-awaited spin-off series about the superhero’s villain and archenemy arrives on Max in September. The news was revealed by Casey Bloys, CEO of content at HBO and Max, who let it slip this Tuesday (11). Variety when the production debuts.

In an interview regarding the launch of Max in France and Belgium, Bloys spoke to the portal about the advantage that the Warner Bros.. Discovery has a wealth of intellectual property, stemming from its years as one of America’s largest film studios.

A legacy that now allows them to launch similar series Penguinderived from the film Batman by Matt Reeves, just like they did with Pacifierstraight from the feature film Suicide squad by James Gunn.
The CEO then let slip that the miniseries about the villain will arrive on the platform in September, even before Dune: Prophecy, another major release from the company, lands on the service.
In development from 2021, Penguin is a limited series created by Lauren LeFranc, who also serves as the series’ showrunner, in which we follow the Penguin’s rise through the criminal underworld of Gotham City.
The show, which will star Colin Farrell (Sugar), who will reprise his role in the 2022 film, will consist of eight episodes and is set exactly one week after the events shown in the original film.
One of Max’s most anticipated projects for this year, Penguin presents Cristin Milioti (Palm Springs) and Michael Zegen (Wonderful Mrs. Maisel), in the role of Sofia and Alberto, the criminal’s children; Clancy Brown (Highlander: the immortal warrior) as Salvatore Maroni, a local mafia boss, and Michael Kelly (House of cards) as Johnny Vitti, the underboss of the Falcone family.
