AMD is expected to launch only two Radeon GPUs with RDNA 4

A leaked document suggests that AMD is expected to launch only two graphics cards in its new generation, focusing on the mid-range and high-end segment

Despite the OMG having not announced its new graphics cards at Computex 2024, leaving CPUs in the spotlight, the team led by Lisa Su has at least two GPUs in the pipeline to launch. At least this is what the documents leaked this Tuesday (11) indicate.

They highlight the existence of the Navi 48 and 44, which would represent the most powerful and intermediate chip of the Radeon RX. Still without a definitive name, AMD’s next line of graphics cards is not expected to have an essentially high-end model.

The most powerful version would be the Navi 48 chip, which should represent a GPU like the RX 8700 or 8800. Whatever the name, the 700/800 suffixes indicate that the card would be high-performance, but not an enthusiast model like The Radeon RX7900XTXFor example.

The Navi 44 is expected to be an intermediate chip, possibly numbered 600, as it tends to be the segment with the greatest consumer appeal.

It is worth mentioning that both cards would come with modules VRAM memory GDDR6, different from rival NVIDIA, which should already adopt GDDR7 technology in its next generation.

The launch would also mark the introduction of the first products with the RDNA 4 microarchitecture, which it is expected to have Notable performance improvements for Ray Tracing. However, only in RDNA5 should we see a more complete GPU portfolio a more significant generational leap.

It was previously speculated that it would be released later this year, the future Radeon RX could only be launched in early 2025.
