Gigabyte reveals a 14,700 MB/s PCIe 5.0 SSD

Gigabyte has revealed AORUS Gen5 14000, its new super-fast SSD with speeds of up to 14.7 GB/s thanks to the PCIe 5.0 protocol

With the advent of the new generation of Solid state driveGigabyte announced this Thursday (13th) the arrival of its most powerful SSD PCIe 5.0, AORUS Gen5 14000. The model runs at incredibly fast transfer speeds, breaking the 14,000 MB/s barrier, as well as being available in capacities from 1TB to 4TB.

As for performance, the drive can reach 14.5 GB/s reading and 12.7 GB/s writing, surpassing very fast models, such as the TeamGroup T-Force Z54A. It’s worth mentioning that data rates vary depending on capacity, and these values represent the 2TB version. The 1 TB variant, for example, runs at 13.6 GB/s read and 12.7 GB/s write.

All this firepower is only possible thanks to a Phison PS5026-E26 controller, made in 12 nanometer lithography. As for the memory chips, Gigabyte has chosen to use 232 of them NAND layers 3D TLC to increase SSD performance.

Unlike other models in the category, which have integrated heat sinks and even coolers, the AORUS Gen5 14000 does not come with any integrated cooling system. However, the manufacturer recommends using this SSD with your motherboard’s standard heat sink to avoid overheating.
