The figure of vampires causes an ambiguous attraction in spectators, mixing fear and fascination. These mythical beings, generally depicted as immortals who feed on human blood, have an aura of mystery and seduction.

Often associated with the night, supernatural power and the struggle between good and evil, vampires have become irresistible characters in cinema.

Extremely successful commercially and well received by critics, “Interview with the Vampire” was based on the novel of the same name by Anne Rice. The film is directed by Neil Jordan and stars two movie stars: Tom Cruise and an emerging Brad Pitt. Kirsten Dunst, Christian Slater, Antonio Banderas and Stephen Rea complete the cast.

The plot follows the story of Louis de Pointe du Lac (Pitt) to a journalist (Slater). He claims to be a vampire and tells of his journey of over two hundred years.

Another vampire film that was a commercial success, “The Lost Boys” has also gained cult status over the years. Directed by Joel Schumacher, the film features successful young actors of the time, such as: Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, Jason Patric, Kiefer Sutherland, Jami Gertz, Dianne Wiest, Edward Herrmann and Barnard Hughes.

In the plot, two teenage brothers move to a California town that serves as a haven for vampires.

Bela Lugosi’s portrayal of Count Dracula in this horror classic established the character as a cultural icon, as well as defining the vampire archetype as we know it today.

Directed by Tod Browning, the film is an adaptation of the 1924 play, which in turn was based on Bram Stoker’s novel, published in 1897.

In the plot, Dracula leaves Transylvania for England and feeds on his victims, but his attention is paid to a doctor’s daughter.

Another classic adaptation of “Dracula” for the cinema is this one produced by Hammer Film Productions. The film is directed by Terence Fisher and features outstanding performances from Christopher Lee as Count Dracula and Peter Cushing as Doctor Van Helsing.

In the plot, Dr. Van Helsing tries to stop Dracula after he turns his friend, the vampire hunter Jonathan Harker, undead. Furthermore, Harker’s girlfriend is Dracula’s new target.

Directed by FW Murnau, “Nosferatu” is a German silent film considered one of the greatest classics of horror cinema. The film is an unauthorized adaptation of the novel “Dracula” by Bram Stoker.

In the plot, Count Orlok (Max Schreck) is a vampire from Transylvania who leaves for Germany, spreading terror. His great interest is his real estate agent’s wife.

Directed by cult director John Carpenter, “Vampires” mixes horror and westerns. James Woods stars in the film as Jack Crow, leader of a team of vampire hunters.

Daniel Baldwin, Sheryl Lee (known for her role as Laura Palmer in “Twin Peaks”), Thomas Ian Griffith, Tim Guinee and Maximilian Schell complete the cast.

In the plot, Jack Crow and his team try to stop the powerful vampire Jan Valek (Griffith), who seeks an ancient relic that allows vampires to exist in the sunlight.

Another vampire film that has gained cult status over time, “When Dark Comes” failed at the box office upon its release. However, the film was well received by critics and has become popular with viewers over the years.

Mixing horror and western, the film is written and directed by Kathryn Bigelow (“The Hurt Locker”). Adrian Pasdar, Jenny Wright, Bill Paxton, Lance Henriksen and Jenette Goldstein star in the production.

In the plot, a young man from a small town is seduced and bitten by a vampire. After the transformation, he joins the nomadic group of vampires to which he belongs.

Making an unusual mix of genres, “Innocente Mordida” mixes vampire, comedy, horror and mafia films. The film is directed by John Landis, the director responsible for such hits as “The Paw Brothers,” “An American Werewolf in London,” “A Prince in New York” and “Trocando as Bolas.”

The plot follows a vampire (Anne Parillaud) who only feeds on bad people. However, when she bites a mob boss (Robert Loggia) and can’t get rid of him, problems arise.

The mafioso transforms into a vampire and also transforms his henchmen. However, he has the help of a police officer (Anthony LaPaglia).

Directed and written by Tom Holland, “The Scary Hour” was a huge commercial success and received critical acclaim. The film won a sequel and a remake which also had a sequel.

In the plot, a teenager (Charley Brewster) discovers that his new neighbor (Chris Sarandon) is a vampire. Nobody, however, believes the young man. So he seeks help from a horror show host who calls himself a vampire hunter (Roddy McDowall).

Addiction (1995) / Credits: October Films (advertising)

Directed by the beloved Abel Ferrara, “The Addiction” is a horror and drama film with a high philosophical charge. Furthermore, the film is shot in black and white. The film stars Lili Taylor, Christopher Walken, Annabella Sciorra, Edie Falco and Michael Imperioli and the cast.

In the plot, a philosophy student in New York (Taylor) is bitten by a mysterious woman and turns into a vampire. From that moment on he becomes addicted to blood and begins to reflect on his new condition.
