The third season of ‘Brigerton’ showed us new characters and the most controversial was Michaela Stirling, who put the fans in a heated debate, since it will completely change the story of a Bridgerton girl.

Who Is Michaela Stirling, The New ‘Bridgerton’ Character?
The last episode of the third season arrived on Netflix on June 13, and there we were able to see the revelation of the true identity of Lady Whistledown, a charming ball organized by Penelope’s sisters and the appearance of a relative of John Stirling, who has just married Francesca Bridgerton.
This happens in the middle of the dance when Elouse asks Francesca to accompany her to live in Scotland, where her new husband has an estate. When John questions whether he’s comfortable with the decision, he mentions that he thinks it’s a good idea since his cousin Michaela Sterling would be joining them.
Upon introducing herself, Michaela asks the name of Francesca, who looks visibly nervous to look at her, and this little act has already caused a huge stir for two reasons. Initially, many netizens started asking if the young Stirling appears in the books written by Julia Quinn, and the short answer is no, but according to the plot created by Netflix, her arrival is more important than you think.

Various fans of the show have shared on TikTok that Michaela could, in fact, be the stand-in for Earl Michael Stirling, who marries Francesca when John, his cousin, dies suddenly in the original story.
The sixth book, ‘The Heart of a Bridgerton’, tells this story and how Francesca struggles with the loss of her husband, experiences a miscarriage, her grief and how years later she finds love again with Michael . However, Netflix would completely change that, as Francesca could have a romance with Michaela in the future, making them the first official LGBTQ+ couple on the show, which completely changes the narrative.
In the past, series showrunner Jess Brownell has commented that a queer couple will be included at some point, though she did not specify which Bridgerton brother she was referring to. ‘Brigerton 3’ seems to have provided the answer.

This huge plot twist, with the potential romance between Michaela and Francesca, immediately began to divide fans. While some are excited about the idea, others have spoken out against it, not to show inclusion in future episodes, but because they think Francesca’s story is the most beautiful of all and fear it won’t be told faithfully.
It was also suggested that one of Bridgerton’s younger siblings would be the perfect candidate to represent the LGBTQ+ community and create empathy with the audience, as it is argued that Francesca’s personality and experiences do not match Michaela’s potential love interest.
