“The streets of the city are crowded for Halloween. Despite the rain. Criminals lurk in the chaos, ready to riot like snakes. I’m here too. And I’m watching. Two years of night owls have made me a nocturnal animal. I have to choose my targets well. The city is big, I can’t be everywhere, but they don’t know where I am. . A signal was called when needed. But this light that tears the sky. Besides, it’s not just a call for help. It’s a warning. To them. Fear is a weapon. They think I’m in the shadows. But the shadow… it’s me. .”

As well as curiosity (and suspicion for Robert Pattinson’s detractors), Batman convinced the public and critics when it was released in March of last year, with extremely flattering ratings (4.1/5 from the audience. , 3.9/5 from the press) and revenue at the date ($770 million worldwide, 3 million admissions in France). A successful bet, therefore, for Matt Reeves.

In this new iteration of Gotham City vigilantism, the director of Cloverfield and Planet of the Apes calls on film noir and superhero movies and immerses the audience in a rain-soaked and dark Gotham, while Bruce Wayne/Batman has only spent two years on the city’s streets fighting crime.

In addition to the atmosphere of Twilight, the realistic treatment of comic book characters (Catwoman, The Riddler, The Penguin, among others) and its radical approach and length, the feature film is appreciated for its plans. In this way, it offers memorable sequences (Batman facing the camera in front of the fire, the fight in the corridor between shadow and light, the dark knight’s heavy steps…) and rejects the whole range of black and gray with Sublime photography. By Greig Fraser.

The SteelBook box edition precisely honors this chromatic masterpiece, offering the film in its 4K Ultra-HD (HDR10) and Blu-ray versions, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Dolby Surround 7.1, IMAX soundtracks 6-Track and IMAX 12-. song.
