The woman accused of attacking a gay couple in a bakery is arrested for hit-and-run in SP


Police found she showed signs of intoxication, but she refused to take a breathalyzer test.

The woman accused of attacking a gay couple in a bakery in Sao Paulo he was arrested red-handed for causing bodily harm, after hitting a man, in the early hours of Friday the 14th, in Barra Funda, west of the capital. The clash occurred on Avenida Francisco Matarazzo.

According to the police, Jaqueline Santos Ludovico, 33, fled after hitting the victim with her car, but returned to the scene and was arrested. Police found she showed signs of intoxication, but she refused to take a breathalyzer test.

Surveillance cameras captured the clash. The images show when the man signals the driver of the car that he is in a pedestrian crossing. The vehicle does not brake and ends up hitting the pedestrian. The woman driving the car continued with the vehicle, but she then returned accompanied by a sister.

According to the Public Security Secretariat of São Paulo (SSP-SP), the military police intervened in the accident and found that the woman hit the victim while driving a red Honda HR-V. “The woman allegedly left the place and returned later without the vehicle, presenting contradictory statements and signs of drunkenness. She was taken to the 91st DP (Ceasa) and the case was registered as negligent bodily harm while driving a vehicle, fleeing the scene of accidents and driving while intoxicated,” he said in a statement

The 32-year-old victim was taken to the São Camilo hospital, Santana unit, was under observation and has already been discharged. Jaqueline underwent a custody hearing and was granted the benefit of house arrest because she has young children.

Homophobic attack

The previous case involving Jaqueline occurred in February this year. She was accused by the São Paulo Prosecutor’s Office of insults, personal injury, threats and criminal acts after attacking a gay couple in a bakery in the Santa Cecília neighborhood. The woman allegedly became angry with the journalist Rafael Gonzaga and her boyfriend, starting to utter homophobic insults and attacking them with punches, slaps and kicks. Rafael had facial injuries.

The confusion would have started because Jaqueline was talking to another woman in a parking lot and Rafael would have approached with the car to occupy the space. Jaqueline got angry and started insulting and attacking. According to the deputy, she will be held accountable for insults, personal injuries and threats.

The report has reached out to Jaqueline’s defense and is awaiting a response.
