In December 2019, in The Rise of Skywalker, after 4 years of questions and speculation about Rey’s parentage, we finally learned that she was actually Emperor Palpatine’s grandson. But long before this revelation took place in Episode XI of the Star Wars saga, many fans were trying to guess who the young hero’s ancestors really were.
Star Wars has always been a family story, with many theories floating around the internet clearly involving former characters in the saga and Obi-Wan Kenobi in particular. Indeed, for a long time, the famous Jedi master, played by Ewan McGregor, was named in many forums as Rey’s ideal grandfather.
The only downside (of size) is that Jedi must not have a romantic relationship or children.
