Former striker Roberto Baggio had a scare last Thursday (20th), during a European Cup match. This is because he was the victim of a robbery while he was at home and witnessed the clash between Spain and Italy with his family. He still had to be taken to hospital to have stitches in his head. After all, one of the criminals gave him the butt of a gun.

Baggio resisted the robbery attempt and was then attacked.

In fact, the former player’s villa is located in Vincenza, Italy. According to information from the “Ansa” news agency, five criminals participated in the invasion. Baggio and his family were locked in a room so that the bandits could carry out the robbery.

Shortly after the criminals left the house, the former attacker managed to open the bedroom door and call the police. He then admitted the trauma he suffered from the episode.

“Now I have to overcome the fear,” explained Baggio.

“First of all, my family and I would like to thank everyone for the great affection we have received”, he underlined in contact with the agency.

Subsequently, the authorities collected the victim’s statements and began investigating the case in the early hours of this Friday (21st). The former player admitted in a statement that he had only suffered minor injuries.

“This only caused a few stitches, bruises and a lot of fear,” explained the former Italian striker.
