Leclerc and Sainz, of Ferrari, start in 5th and 6th place
The British Lando Norris, of McLaren, secured the pole position in the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix in Catalonia this Saturday (22nd).
In excellent shape after obtaining his first victory in the category, at the Miami GP, the 24-year-old driver set a time of 1’11’383, preceding the championship leader, Max Verstappen, of Red Bull, by just 20 hundredths.
The Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton and George Russell start from the second row, while Ferrari appears immediately after with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz.
Pierre Gasly (Alpine), Sergio Pérez (Red Bull), Esteban Ocon (Alpine) and Oscar Piastri (McLaren), who made a mistake on his fastest lap, complete the top 10.
“We know it will be difficult against Max and Lewis, but we are here to win,” Norris said.
The drivers’ championship is led by three-time champion Verstappen, with 169 points, 31 ahead of Leclerc (138). Norris is in third place, with 113. .
