A Brazilian Basketball Confederation (CBB) announced this Saturday, the 22nd, that the physical trainer Diego Falcão he is no longer part of the technical committee of the delegation of women’s basketball team. “Any country that accepts abortion does not teach its people to love, but to use any violence to get what they want,” he wrote on his social networks, clearly declaring himself in favor of abortion. Despite announcing Diego Falcão’s departure, CBB did not reveal the real reason for the decision. He has no official connection to the entity and was paid as a “service provider”. Apparently there was no longer the climate for the physical trainer to continue in the Brazilian team.
“It is incredible that a professional, who works with women, demonstrates this kind of position on social media. Rape is a serious crime. That women have the right to decide and express their opinion about it. It is essential that our confederation take a clear and appropriate position on this very serious issue,” said WNBA athlete Damiris Dantas.
Diego Falcão has been working for the Brazilian national team since 2015 after playing for Flamengo. He was part of the team that competed at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
