His interpretation of song covers, in particular the song “Samba de Janeiro”, by the German band Bellini, won the hearts of his compatriots and, in a short time, the entire world through social networks.

Videos of the saxophonist headlining the German party went viral on social media. Schnura currently has more than 280,000 followers on Instagram and nearly half a million followers on TikTok.

Success, however, is sudden. On social media, the saxophonist revealed that he was fired from the school where he taught for six years shortly before the start of the tournament. The setback did not discourage the musician, who decided to step out of his comfort zone and perform on the street during the continental tournament.

Another curious detail is that the beautiful black saxophone used by Schnura is a model developed by the saxophonist himself. In 2018, together with a childhood friend, he founded the company Stalaxy, a brand of black saxophones that wants to make the instrument “cool”.

The recent virality has boosted the brand’s sales and, to take advantage of the sudden interest, Schnura has announced that it will donate 150 euros (approximately 881 reais) for each unit of Stalaxy saxophone sold. The NGO chosen was the “Toni Kroos Stiftung”, or Toni Kroos Foundation in Portuguese, the German midfielder’s organization which takes care of children suffering from serious illnesses.

With Germany qualifying for the round of 16, Andre Schnura’s pre-match appearance is being requested by fans and the saxophonist seems keen to oblige. On his Instagram, the musician thanked his fans for their support and affection and called for unity and understanding among fans.

If Germany reaches the final of the tournament, a petition has been created for Schnura to perform at the Berlin Olympic Stadium and play the German anthem during the closing ceremony. Given the saxophonist’s current popularity, the request does not seem impossible. It remains to be seen whether the German team will reach the final stage of the competition.
