For Marne on France 2: Will there be a season 2?

Last Monday, France 2 aired Jack Thorne’s British series Pour Marnie.

Starring Sharon Horgan and Michael Sheen, this four-episode series follows Niche and Andrew Lloyd, a pair of parents facing one of the most difficult decisions they will ever make.

Marnie, their 13-year-old daughter, suffers from muscular dystrophy, an incurable degenerative disease. After a serious lung infection, the little girl was unfortunately taken to the hospital and then fell into a coma.

Without hope for her survival, doctors suggested stopping treatment and implementing a palliative care protocol.

Disturbed by the hospital’s position, Niche and Andrew fight to save their daughter. But when Andrew gradually favors the medical profession, the couple falls apart. A conflict that will be resolved in court.

Will the authorities decide to continue caring for Marni or let her die?

A critical and public success in England, For Marnie was rightly praised for the quality of its script and cast. Michael Sheen, who plays Andrew, won the Best Actor prize at the Series Mania International Competition in 2023.

Although the series ended on Monday night on France 2, can viewers look forward to Season 2?

Will there be a second season?

The chances of the series returning for a second season are very small. Since its June 2023 release on the English channel BBC, For Marnie has actually been presented as a 4-episode mini-series. With the court ruling on Marnie’s future in the last episode, everything seems to indicate that there will be no continuation of the story.

For latecomers who missed the first episodes of Pour Marnie, the series is available in its entirety on the France.tv website.
