The new thriller directed by Mel Gibson stars the actor as an assassin hired to kill his passengers
Paris Films has released the poster and trailer for “Flight Risk,” a new film directed by Mel Gibson (“Braveheart”) and starring Mark Wahlberg (“Family Plan”). The trailer, released this Thursday (6/27), features a bald Wahlberg as Daryl, an Alaskan pilot who turns out to be a psychopathic killer.
Plot and characters
The plot revolves around the transportation of a federal agent (Michelle Dockery, “Downton Abbey”) and a captive mob informant (Topher Grace, “Klansman”) who are about to testify against the Moretti family. During the flight through Alaskan airspace, to the sound of a version of the Talking Heads’ “Psycho Killer,” Daryl (Wahlberg) reveals his true identity as a mob hitman hired to eliminate his passengers.
Fight for survival
After a fight at 10,000 feet, the agent manages to overpower and handcuff Daryl, but he now needs help keeping the plane in the air, as he cannot fly. But he refuses and tries to make everyone’s survival as difficult as possible. The preview features several risky situations and twists.
Production and release
This is the first film directed by Mel Gibson since “The Last Man” (2016), also produced by Lionsgate. “Threat in the Air” is written by Jared Rosenberg and produced by Gibson.
It’s worth noting that Gibson and Wahlberg have previously starred together in “Pai em Dose Dupla 2” (2017) and “Fight for Faith: The Story of Father Stu” (2022), but this is the first time Gibson has directed his colleague.
“Menace no Ar” is scheduled to premiere Oct. 31 in Brazil, two weeks after its U.S. release.
