Over the last few weeks, ‘Inside Out 2’ has been trending on social networks and the film has shown in an excellent way how stress manifests in the mind and body. The most impressive thing is that the design of this character has a detail that makes it unique. We explain to you.
The Design of Anxiety: How Pixar Brings Its True Meaning to ‘Inside Out 2’
Anxiety is one of the new emotions that appear in Riley’s mind when she reaches puberty. In fact, she is the first to appear along with Joy, Sadness, Grief, Disgust and Fear, who welcome her.
Its strange design shows it as a nervous being, a bit sloppy and always alert, but something interesting to highlight is its eyes. When you see them up close, you can notice that they are green and not orange like their body. While other emotions have the iris of their eyes a similar color to their body or hair, anxiety does not and there is a reason behind it.
The person who explained it in a video was TikTok user @yeshua_el_cinefilo, who already has more than 11 million views and almost 1 million likes. According to him, the contrast in the eyes of Anxiety is due to how this emotion sees the world.
Anxiety comes to Riley’s mind to protect the teenager. Although its orange body may suggest that it represents potential danger, its eyes are the opposite color, i.e. green, to project safety. This can be confirmed with the color wheel.
This means that although Anxiety looks like a negative emotion, it seeks to make people more confident in the face of possible scenarios. This is also confirmed in the same movie, as there is a moment where Anxiety apologizes to the other emotions for the chaos he caused in Riley’s mind, explaining that he only wanted to protect her.
