Uruguay coach, Marcelo Bielsa, gets confused in the press conference: ‘Who is McDonald’s?’

The Chilean coach, with the clumsy help of the translator, mistook the restaurant chain for a player

After the defeat of Uruguay for what concern Bolivia 5-0 in the Copa America, the coach of the sky blue team, Marcelo Bielsa, had a moment of relaxation during the press conference, when he was asked what his taste was for the cuisine of the restaurant chain McDonald’s.

A journalist first questioned Darwin Núñez’s performance in the match and, shortly after, asked about Bielsa’s personal taste in snacks.

“I wanted to ask you about Darwin Núñez in terms of energy and pressure tonight and, on a lighter note, what makes you appreciate McDonald’s so much. Thank you.”, the reporter asked.

However, the translator confused Bielsa into thinking the question was referring to a player rather than the restaurant. “Why do you like McDonald’s? That’s the question. I don’t know if you like it or not,” said the translator.

After the confusion, Bielsa took a minute to realize that the question was about his personal taste in McDonald’s food, which made those present laugh. “Do I like McDonald’s? Who is McDonald’s? Do I like the food?” I don’t like it,” the coach concluded.

Uruguay leads Group C with six points. The team’s next match will be against the United States, next Monday, July 1, at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
