Plastic Guns is a very, very loose adaptation of the Dupont de Ligonnès case that is said to “fascinate” the French and is the subject of the wildest “fantasies” as to what became of this missing man.

Dare to make a comedy on this topic! It’s the challenge of this crazy movie to keep it safe for an informed audience because “A scene of great violence that will offend sensitive audiencesAs the side of the film reads “All audiences be warned”.

As in Blood Oranges, Jean-Christophe Meurice’s previous work, the humor is caustic and sometimes disturbing.

This new production from Jean-Christophe Meurice (founder of the band Les Chiens de Navarre) fully embraces the black comedy genre, clearly leaning towards the Coen brothers.

They liked it

Magba (4/5): “Same structure as Blood Orange: we laugh a lot at the beginning, not at the end… very rhythmic for 45 minutes, a little waver then it starts again. This comedy revolves around famous news stories to laugh at miscarriages of justice and human nature ready at any moment.

Chris G (3.5/5):A bold black comedy, very well directed and superbly acted from the leads to the supporting cast. The well-documented scabrous novelty of Ligonnès is an excuse to laugh darkly at this monster. A special mention goes to our investigative duo as the attached Concierge for guaranteed laughs.

Camille Moingeon (4/5):Nugbari, all pleasure! Bravo to JC Meurisse and his band of improvisational and cheeky geniuses who explore the foibles and follies of people and society in such a way, this film does a lot of good and has a wickedly powerful cathartic effect that is very welcome at this point!

We laugh a lot, the cast and especially the cast is brilliant, there are scenes that will become iconic, I finally saw the comedy of the year! go for it

khesanh76 (2/5): “This film is divided into a series of sketches that go in all directions. What is surprising about this film is the degree of hysteria of the actors. (…) These are not dialogues, these are howls! In short, very disjointed… and not so funny in the end!!!

CINE FEEL (2/5):The same mechanics as in the previous opus, blood orange, but without the social background and emotion. A sequence of sketches and actors’ numbers that run too fast is empty, filmed, a big problem with rhythm.

In short, despite the outrageousness of the situations and the brilliance of the actors, we quickly get bored, feeling that we have been cheated a little by a cunning director who is looking for comfort and lightness.
