We know it, even if it’s not official yet: The fifth and final season of Stranger Things definitely won’t be the end of the hit Netflix series. A spin-off is indeed already in development, and the show’s creators Matt and Ross Duffer have already confirmed that none of the characters from Stranger Things would return if the series were to see the light of day, because that would be telling. “One more thing.”
But the final season of Stranger Things and its potential spin-off aren’t the only projects the Duffer brothers are developing. The duo is definitely involved in developing a play inspired by the Stranger Things mythology, written by Keith Trefry and notably produced by Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliott, The Crown, etc.).
But that’s not all, as the Duffers are also developing a series adaptation of the novel Talisman, co-written by Peter Straub and Stephen King, for Paramount Television. Fans of the master of fantasy, the brothers tried to adapt it into a feature film a few years ago, before Stranger Things at a time when their lack of fame still prevented them from working on big-budget productions.
In addition to another series developed with the creators of Dark Crystal: Time of Resistance, which we know nothing about, the Duffers are also working on a project to adapt the cult manga Death Note (available from Kana Publications) into live action. the series Remember that 2016 already saw a live-action feature film on Netflix, but it did not achieve the expected success, especially due to the many liberties taken with the original work.
Between expanding the Stranger Things universe and exploring new horizons, the Duffer brothers have no shortage of projects to keep us entertained for the next few years. Keep in mind, too, that the fifth and final season of Stranger Things isn’t due out on Netflix until 2024.
