ENM Performance: Bastos scores, but Botafogo’s defense fails in draw against Vasco

Botafogo opened the scoring with Bastos, but conceded the equaliser in the final minutes after a mistake by the defence and goalkeeper John.

On Saturday night (29), Botafogo drew with Vasco in São Januário and lost the chance to take the lead in the Brazilian championship. With little creativity, Glorioso opened the scoring in the final stretch of the classic, with another header from Bastos. However, the team equalized a few minutes later, with a marking error from the defense and a mistake from goalkeeper John, who was slow to react.

Vasco failed to score. No matter how long the defense took to react, the Botafogo goalkeeper watched the ball go past him and only moved when it was too late.

He hit Vegetti’s header into the opponent’s goal, but also contributed early with a beautiful header to open the scoring. He deserves credit for the good phase and, in the rest of the match, he played a confident game, without allowing any space.

Junior Santos: 6.0

Recovering from his injury, he created a great opportunity for Cuiabano in his first action on the pitch. He was very participatory throughout the second half, but he made many wrong decisions.

Once again he gave more quality to the midfield and was decisive with the cross for Bastos’ goal.
