The first film in the beloved “Before” trilogy, “Before Sunrise” is one of Richard Linklater’s most acclaimed works.

Ethan Hawke plays the American Jesse and Julie Delpy plays the French Celine, two young people who meet on a train heading to Vienna.

They decide to go down to the city and spend a night together. The film stands out for focusing on the deep and existentialist dialogues of the young couple.

The second film in the “Before” trilogy received even more acclaim and is considered not only Richard Linklater’s best work, but also one of the best films of the 21st century.

Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy return in the same roles. The plot follows Jesse and Céline’s reunion in Paris, nine years after the events of “Before Sunrise.”

A comedy film that brings a good dose of rock and roll, “Escola de Rock” and stars Jack Black in the lead role. In the plot, Dewey (Black), a failed and unemployed musician, pretends to be a substitute teacher at a private school.

However, after noticing that some children have a talent for music, Dewey has a bold idea: he decides to teach his students rock and roll and form a band with them to participate in a competition.

A coming-of-age comedy, “The Young, Crazy and Rebels” is one of Richard Linklater’s most beloved films, considered a cult classic.

Set in 1976, the film follows the last day of school at a secondary school. The plot does not have a single protagonist and the film follows a diverse group of teenagers.

The film stars some young actors who will become stars in the future: Matthew McConaughey, Jason London, Ben Affleck, Milla Jovovich, Cole Hauser, Parker Posey, Anthony Rapp and Adam Goldberg.

Despite the Brazilian title, this film is not the sequel to “Jovens, Loucos and Rebeldes”. However, it is also a coming-of-age comedy and works as a spiritual sequel to the 1993 film.

The film is set in 1980 and follows a group of baseball players at a college in Texas. The cast includes actor Glen Powell.

A rugged comedy, “Bernie: Almost an Angel” is based on true events. The film is an adaptation of an article written by Skip Hollandsworth (who wrote the film’s screenplay with Linklater) and published in Texas Monthly magazine in 1998.

The plot follows Bernie Tiede (Jack Black), a beloved funeral director in his small Texas town. He ends up befriending and then marrying a wealthy, elderly widow, Marjorie Nugent (Shirley MacLaine).

However, he ends up killing her and admits to the crime when prosecutor Danny Buck Davidson (Matthew McConaughey) takes up the case.

Based on the book of the same name by Claude Stanush (who wrote the screenplay with Linklater and Clark Lee Walker), “Newton Boys” is based on true events.

The film follows the true story of the Newton brothers, a gang of bank robbers active in the United States in the 1920s.

Matthew McConaughey, Skeet Ulrich, Ethan Hawke and Vincent D’Onofrio play the brothers.

The comedy “The Killer By Chance” is another Richard Linklater film based on an article by Skip Hollandsworth for Texas Monthly magazine.

The plot follows Gary (Glen Powell), a college professor who works for the police by posing as a professional killer to arrest people who seek his service.

However, Gary breaks protocol when he finds himself attracted to a beautiful woman (Adria Arjona) who appears to be the victim of a bad relationship.
