But twenty years before he told the whole world the epic tale of Maximus (which won his translator Russell Crowe an Oscar and 4 other awards for the film), the British filmmaker twice revolutionized the world of science.
After an excellent first feature film (The Duellists, directed by Harvey Keitel and Keith Carradine), Ridley Scott began his career as a filmmaker by delivering two monuments to the genre: The Exhausting Alien, the first part of a saga that continues to this day. and the outstanding Blade Runner adapted by Philip K. From Dick’s novel, which was continued 35 years later by Denis Villeneuve.
“I am the author of two franchises.”

“I am the author of two franchises”he explained.
“Most Hollywood directors (…) Don’t let something like this get away. But Alien was my second movie, and I didn’t really have a choice. And Blade Runner was my third film. Therefore, I had no choice, because I had very strict associates. It was kind of a way for me to say, “Welcome to Hollywood.” (…) I never asked the question. You can imagine I wasn’t very happy.”
“I’ve never been asked that question.”
Always at the microphone varietyTherefore, the filmmaker suggested that he was not asked for his opinion on the subject, but he certainly did not claim responsibility for these projects, and perhaps he should have.
“(…) I should have done the sequel to Alien and Blade Runner. We change over the years. I didn’t want to do it again at that time. So James Cameron, then David Fincher, came to Alien.
