Amazon Studios is heading to the sanctuary.
The streamer has acquired the rights to writer-director Nick Stoller’s untitled wedding comedy, with Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon attached.
The trio also produce under their respective banners: Ferrell produces with Jessica Elbaum via Gloria Sanchez; Stoller runs its global solutions block with partner Connor Welch; And Witherspoon is producing alongside Lauren Neustadter through Hello Sunshine, with the company’s executive producer Ashley Strumwasser.
Logline details are being kept under wraps, but the premise includes two weddings scheduled at the same location on the same weekend.
Most studios dropped out early on in the bidding, but among streamers, the competition to land a wedding comedy was as intense as the race to grab the bucket.
