Pork with cabbage: a succulent and complete side dish for lunch

Pork with cabbage

Time: 1h (+12h rest)

Performance: 12 servings

Difficulty: easy

Ingredients:

  • 200 ml of dry red wine
  • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 3 cloves of garlic, crushed
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 150 g diced bacon
  • 1/2 medium cabbage, finely chopped

Preparation method:

  1. Season the shank with wine, vinegar, pepper, garlic, salt, pepper and bay leaves.
  2. Place in a plastic bag and let rest for 12 hours.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium heat, add the ham with all the seasonings, cover and let sit until all the liquid has evaporated and the ham is golden brown.
  4. Uncover the pan, add warm water and stir, a little at a time, until the meat is completely tender.
  5. Remove from pan, slice and set aside.
  6. In the same pan, brown the bacon, in its own fat, until crispy.
  7. Drain all the fat, add the chopped cabbage and mix for 5 minutes, season with salt and pepper.
  8. Arrange the slices of ham on a serving plate and decorate with the cabbage around them.
