The Hollywood star actually filmed at 240 km/h on the British Grand Prix circuit
Warner Bros. has released the first teaser for “F1,” the Formula 1 movie starring Brad Pitt (“Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood”). The star appears behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car and races along the straights and curves of the Silverstone circuit in England.
The scenes are not a studio gimmick. During filming, Pitt had the opportunity to drive without stuntmen on the official British Grand Prix circuit, where he reached speeds of up to 240 km/h.
The production has the support of the FIA, the International Automobile Federation and the organizers of the world championship of the category, who have granted privileged access to the production to record scenes during the qualifying periods and even real races. The production is entrusted to none other than seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton – who, among other things, won the British Grand Prix this Sunday (7/7) – and features several drivers from the current championship as extras. It is worth noting that the logo of the film is also the official logo of Formula 1.
Plot, creative team and cast
“F1” is written by Ehren Kruger and directed by Joseph Kosinski, who repeats his partnership from “Top Gun: Maverick” (2023), and features Pitt as a former driver who has disappeared after a horrific accident. He returns to Formula 1 after several years at the invitation of a friend, played by Javier Bardem (“The Little Mermaid”), who owns a small team, which is always at the back of the grid without ever scoring a point. However, the team has a talented youngster, played by Damson Idris (“Snowfall”), and they retire Pitt’s character to serve as a mentor and also as a sort of last resort for the team’s survival.
The cast also includes Kerry Condon (“The Banshees of Inisherin”) and Tobias Menzies (“The Crown”).
The first is scheduled for June 2025.
