Oscar-winning animation, Ratatouille won fans over for its bold and out-of-the-ordinary plot
In June 2007, Ratatouille took the fans from Pixar to Paris and showed the unexpected friendship between Linguinia young human with the chance to work at the renowned Gusteau’s restaurant, and remya mouse who dreams of becoming a chef.
Winner of the Oscar for Best Animated Film, the feature film won audiences over with its French setting and countless realistic details, showing that even a despicable mouse can be a heroic protagonist. To commemorate the 15th anniversary of the film’s release, we have separated 5 curiosities about the iconic animation of the disney. Check out:

Linguini and the stained glass window filled with Mickey’s Mouse
When Linguini takes remy out of the restaurant, he takes his bicycle and pedals it frantically through the streets of Paris, past a cathedral with an enormous circular stained glass window.
The window ledge appears to be made of tiny heads of Mickeyfollowing the tradition of disney to include “hidden” Mickey’s in their movies.
Anton Ego and Death
the food critic Anton ego it is linked to death through various visual symbols. His workroom is coffin-shaped, the typewriter resembles a skull.
ego is introduced with the nickname “The Grim Eater”, which references the English term “the grim reaper,” creatures that represent death. The nickname makes a joke of the critic as a bad review of him can “kill” a restaurant.
The Incredibles Mime
three years before Ratatouille, Brad Bird drove The Incrediblesand one of the film’s villains, a mimic bank robber named Bomb Voyagemakes two brief cameos.
He is first seen on the front page of a newspaper Colette is reading. Later in the film, Linguini and Colette skate around Paris, while Bomb Voyage appears on a bridge.
Gusteau’s menus do not show prices
Fancy Michelin-starred restaurants often don’t have prices on their menus in real life, and Gusteau’s seems to follow that tradition. When menus are shown throughout the film, there are never visible prices written next to the dishes.

Right at the beginning of the film, the story of Chef Gusteau is told and, at one point, we see magazine covers featuring the acclaimed cook. The publications Cuisine at Home and Bon Appetit exist in real life, and in animation, each cover shows an incredible amount of detail, including headlines and priced barcodes.
BONUS: Up’s dog – High Adventures
While remy walks through several apartments trying to find a safe place, we see the well-defined shadow of a dog. Until 2009, the moment went unnoticed, but with the launch of Up – High Adventuresthe audience realized that the shadow belongs to the dog Duggives Pixar
The studio has been working on its animated films for years, so it’s possible the creators placed the easter egg before fans knew to look for it.
