We couldn’t believe it anymore… Last March, HBO announced that production on the new season of Euphoria has been delayed, leaving fans with little hope of a return to their favorite show. But now there’s good news: As Variety reports, season 3 of the Emmy-winning series will begin filming in January 2025, and with all the main cast members returning, more!
“I am excited that we are ready to start production on Euphoria in January. We couldn’t be happier with our creative partnership with Sam and this incredible cast. We look forward to bringing this new season to life for fans“said Francesca Orsi, HBO’s executive vice president of programming and the network’s head of drama series and movies.
Three years later…
That means production will begin nearly three years after Season 2 begins, a delay that can be attributed to several factors, including the 2023 actors’ and writers’ strike, as well as the growing popularity of the series’ main cast, who are extremely busy. Other projects – Aside from show creator Sam Levinson’s desire to write the entire series himself.
As Variety previously reported, Levinson went to HBO in late 2023 and early 2024 with his ideas for a third season, which included a five-year time jump as well as a potential scenario where Rue worked as a private detective. HBO eventually decided to put the series on hold until it was creatively consistent with the previous two seasons.
In terms of casting, we can expect the main cast to return, according to HBO, which suggests that Zendaya, as well as series producer Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Ellord, Hunter Shaffer, Storm Reid, Alexa Demmy, Maude Apatow, or even Eric Dane will be there.

Unfortunately, Season 3 will be without Angus Cloud, who died in July 2023 at the age of 25, as well as Barbie Ferreira, who has already indicated that she will not be returning to the series after Season 2.
except for special audiences, Euphoria proved that it is a serious contender for HBO. To date, the series has received 25 Emmy Award nominations, with nine wins. Among the prizes, two were awarded Zendaya as Best Actress and one guest appearance for Colman Domingo. Sam Levinson Also won an award from the Directors Guild of America for Season 2, Episode 5.
We still don’t know if this long-awaited third season will be the last. To be continued.
In the meantime, you can still watch the first two seasons of Euphoria streaming on Max, Apple TV+ or even MyCanal.
