The idea of this film came to its future creator Richard Balducci by accident. While he, lost in his car near Saint-Tropez, thought he had found the villa he was looking for, he decided to get out of his car and go there. Unfortunately, a thief passing by stole his camera, which was in his fancy convertible.
Enraged, Richard Balducci immediately went to the Gendarmerie in Saint-Tropez, where he met a weak gendarme who was too unmotivated to do his job… From that moment, the idea for a film centered on a group of incompetent gendarmes began. Appears in the screenwriter’s mind…
