Daughter of a Brazilian mother and a Canadian father, Goth — whose full name is Mia Gypsy Mello da Silva Goth — born in London.
In an interview with Globemade during a visit to Rio de Janeiro, Gladys declared his pride in his granddaughter:
She lived with me when she was little. My daughter’s life in London was complicated and she had to leave Mia with me for a while. And it was a joy — remembers the doting grandmother. — There was an American series that we loved, and Mia She imitated the protagonist’s inflection exactly, she did it exactly the same. I couldn’t do it. She was only 3 years old, and I knew right away: ‘There’s no other way’. She’s fabulous. She was born an actress. I’m so proud of her.
Gladys had roles in TV Globo soap operas, such as Anything goes (1988), and in cinema, as The Rifles (1964), from Ruy Guerra. Today, she lives in Santa Rita de Jacutinga, in the southeast of Minas Gerais, and said that she is “not very connected”.
The carioca also revealed that she intends to visit Mia soon: “I’m a great-grandmother now. Seriously! I haven’t met the little girl, Isabel, yet. Today, as Mia It’s a star, I barely see it. I’ve been thinking about going to meet it.”
“I keep wanting not to go so I can give her the opportunity to come to Brazil, because she loves Brazil, it has beaches, it’s warm, it’s not that cold there. But she’s taking so long that I’m going to have to go,” he added.
