Many movies have the name of the city in the title. So much so that we can easily find an example for each continent of our beautiful planet in just a few seconds!
Examples of the American side are the Legion, if only in the United States, and the only city New York (to which we dedicated a quiz last year) that is featured in many films. We can cite, for example, John Carpenter’s 1997 New York, or Martin Scorsese’s New York, New York and Gangs of New York.
We cross the Atlantic and here again European cities have been given the opportunity to appear in a number of films, although we think of the XXL cast of Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel, played by the two killers of Good Kisses in Bruges, Colin. Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, or Roberto Rossellini’s 1945 neorealist Italian classic Rome, Open City.
Other famous film cities
The direction of the South and the African continent, for which this time we can mention Timbuktu, the film that caused a sensation by winning seven statues at the 2015 César ceremony, including the prestigious statues awarded to Best Film and Best Director, in the person of Abderrahman Sissako.
Let’s end our trip to Asia by quoting one of the most outstanding horror films of the last decade, director Yeon Sang-ho’s Last Train to Busan and the hordes of zombies descending on the South Korean capital of Seoul.
But with just a few days to celebrate our national holiday, it’s the cities of France that we’re going to focus on today. Do you think you can find the names of the ten cities that have been removed from these posters? Depends on you !
