The Social Network is a biopic about the brand Facebook and its creator Mark Zuckerberg. The latter is played by Jesse Eisenberg, who considers it the role that launched his career. Sometimes opposite him, sometimes next to him, we find Justin Timberlake in the shoes of Sean Parker, the creator of the music platform Napster, and Andrew Garfield plays his friend Eduardo.

Nicknamed by our colleague Maximilien Pierrette as “the film that best embodies the 2010s”, The Social Network manages to capture this moment when most of today’s social networks were in their infancy and how things have changed since their arrival.

Let’s go back to the history of the creation of Facebook to explore the moment when a simple idea launched “like this” could lead to an Internet industry giant that will still be around in 2024, albeit with much more competition from Snapchat or TikTok. It’s also about going back to the man behind the machine and the concepts that led to the revolution that was Facebook.

And director David Fincher knows how to balance the beat perfectly, matching his camera to the film’s many dialogues – and Jesse Eisenberg’s incomparable vocal delivery. The Social Network is a brilliant biopic that eschews hagiography and leaves us with a film that will be remembered and just waiting to be absorbed by a new audience.
