The midfielder Alissou underwent surgery this Thursday morning (18) to correct a fracture in his right ankle.suffered in the 1-0 victory over Grêmio, at Morumbis. According to the statement sent by Sao Paulo, the athlete is doing well after the surgery.
The player, who was one of the pillars of the team led by Luis Zubeldía, posted a message of thanks on social media.
“First of all, I would like to thank everyone for the kindness shown in these last hours. At the stadium, in the locker rooms, in the stands, in the hospital, in the messages… All of this has simply given me the strength to face this moment with a clear mind and the motivation to recover, I have already overcome it. I have been through difficult moments in my life and that will not make me give up,” said the athlete, before adding:

“I won’t be physically on the pitch for a while, but I have positive thoughts every day. The surgery went well, I thank all the professionals who gave me all the support and we are going strong, and together, to come back even stronger.”
Alisson’s injury occurred in the second half of the match against Grêmio. On that occasion, the player tried to recover a ball in defense and got stuck on the pitch with his right foot. As soon as he fell, he felt pain and his teammates asked to be substituted. He then left the pitch and went to a nearby hospital for tests, which confirmed the fracture.
San Paolo coach asks for reinforcements
Sao Paulo has not set a deadline for the player’s return, but it is unlikely that he will play for the club again this season.
After the match, Coach Zubeldía has asked the management for reinforcements to cover Alisson’s injury. Thiago Mendes, of Al-Rayyan, Qatar, was already in contact with Tricolor, but remains far from the agreement.
“We urgently need players. The coaches know that. It’s not about having options in the squad. We have a lot of midfielders, but they don’t play in that position. We will have the worst version of the players we have,” he said.
The coach added, speaking of the midfielder’s good form this season.
“Alisson was a fundamental part of the idea of the match. He is an experienced player, who both in the phase with the ball and in the phase without the ball was very important, because he organized us,” he said.
