Stranger Things: Catch up on Season 4 Episode 1 to see the evidence that foretold Eddie’s fate

Warning, this article spoils Season 4 of Stranger Things.

For one season, Eddie Munson’s character captured the hearts of Stranger Things fans. In Season 4, the writers introduced this emo character, a free-time dealer and a big fan of Dungeons and Dragons, just like our heroes. As one of Hollywood’s rising stars, Joseph Quinn, he earned his nobility by sacrificing himself in the final episode.

In order to allow Dustin to escape, Eddie chooses to stay and face the Demo-Bats, who attack them alone. He then climbs onto the roof of his caravan to repel them. But faced with a swarm of flying creatures, a young high school student finds himself on the spot. If we don’t see her die strictly speaking, her friend visits her grave at the end of episode 9, letting us know that she did indeed lose her life (even if some fans are still hoping for her return).

Eddie Munson’s story is true and tragic:

Forerunner tattoo

Whether he’s really dead or still alive in the upside-down universe, the Stranger Things writers planned to make Eddie a martyr from the start, as a hidden hint from the beginning of Season 4 suggests.

We’re in the first episode, during Eddie’s second appearance. He then finds himself in the woods face-to-face with Chris (Grace Van Dien). If you pause at 47 minutes and 39 seconds, you can see a bat tattoo on the high school student’s arm. An obviously thoughtful choice of painting, as he would die precisely because of them a few days later.

fan theory

If this tattoo was placed there on purpose, there may be another reason. According to some fans, it’s more of a touch of the bloody hands of a famous character from Dungeons and Dragons history: Cas. The latter ends Vekna’s betrayal and turns against him.

If Eddie never flirted with the dark side, there is one aspect that connects him to Cas: in the game, the latter becomes… a vampire. Couple that with the bats attacking him, and we can get a theory that he’s not really dead and that he’ll be back in Season 5 in a different form.

And what do you think?
