Take a quiz around you: Ask the people around you what comes to mind when people talk about Twister. Those who don’t know we’re referring to the 1996 film will no doubt talk about the green on their left hand, while others will mention a flying cow caught in one before mentioning tornadoes.
And this is quite normal. Like the avocado on the toilet in Jurassic Park, this is one of the most striking images of a feature film. What many people knew before they saw it and what they remember more than – like the fact that Philip Seymour Hoffman is in the supporting roles.
If its notoriety is so high, it is undoubtedly because it is a suspended moment. One of the rare offbeat scenes in a disaster movie that aims to be realistic is when Bill (Bill Paxton) and Jo Harding (Helen Hunt) see a cow rolling in front of their car’s windshield in the middle of a storm.
As the release of Twisters approaches (and the writer of these lines can attest to this), many future viewers have only one question on their lips: Will we see the Flying Cow again? The answer is no. Unfortunately.
But we asked director Lee Isaac Chung (Minari), who replaces Ian de Bont behind the camera, the reason for this absence. And that caused him to burst out laughing. “Every member of the technical team asked this question every day.He answers us.
This was my rebellion against Twister
“If I had found a good place to fly this cow, I could have done it. But people looked so much they wanted to see it that they might be disappointed when they saw it. And I don’t ‘I’ like to have my film reduced to just this flying cow. “
“Mostly when I talked to people about the first Twister, they were like, ‘Oh, yeah, with a flying cow!’ , that it is much more.
And he’s right, about the original film and his film, which, between rising stars and out-of-control tornadoes, is everything that will take your breath away in theaters.
